The commission came in through her team — they needed something that read as her on stage, but didn't compete with the wardrobe. Pink satin varsity. A gothic B monogram on the chest, her name in crystal cursive across the back. Hand-set in Brooklyn.
Cardi's team knew what they wanted in shape — a varsity. The rest was open. We sampled three pinks before landing on a satin that held the crystal well without going matte under stage light. The B monogram is hand-set in gunmetal-rose. The cursive 'Cardi' across the back is in matching pink crystal, traced over a chalk template, then set stone by stone over four days. Delivered backstage at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. She tried it on, photographed it, and posted from the throne we'd set up against the press wall. First time the studio's work hit a stage that size.
